Jellyfish and Eggs brings together vibrant writing and visual art by children from diverse backgrounds who gathered in Bundoran during a two-week creative project in 2024. Joined by Ukrainian poet Olha Matso, associate artist Sharon Kelly, and associate writers Mary Branley and Jo Holmwood, the children collaborated, shared experiences, and expressed their perspectives through both English, Ukrainian and other languages.
The book captures their imaginative responses to their surroundings, as well as their reflections on home, transition, and community. Olha Matso’s involvement brought cultural depth and sensitivity to the process, helping ensure that the children’s voices and experiences were represented with care and authenticity.
Kids’ Own acknowledges the support of Donegal Local Development Company, especially Community Links Worker Yuliia Melnyk. The project was funded by the Benefact Group through the Movement for Good Awards, with co-funding from the Government of Ireland and the European Union. This support enables creative, community-focused initiatives that foster cultural exchange and connection through the arts.
