The Green Futures Project with Cranmore Co-Op

The Green Futures Video

We are delighted to share a new Kids’ Own video from our ‘Green Futures’ project!

The video gives an insight into the project, which  provided an opportunity for a group of children and young people from Sligo to work collaboratively with Kids’ Own Associate Artist Sarah Ellen Lundy while exploring important themes and ideas that connect to climate action.

Kids’ Own partnered with Cranmore Community Co-Op on this project and over ten days in summer 2022, children and young people worked with artist Sarah Ellen Lundy. They explored a range of topics and ideas through both practical explorations of their environment, as well more conceptual ideas about the human and animal world, through drawing, observation, dialogue, and research. The artist facilitated the sessions in the Cranmore community gardens and in collaboration with community workers from the Cranmore Co-Op. Sarah has a strong interest in the natural world, and environmental themes run through her work. This project was also very much rooted in the artist’s own artistic practice and time spent in her own studio.

Kids’ Own is strongly committed to climate action as an area of priority within our work. We recognise the crucial role that children can have in shaping their own futures and as equal and active citizens in our society.

Aim of the Green Futures Project

Through this project, we wanted to support children and young people to collaborate with a professional artist and gain new environmental awareness. This video highlights and gives an insight into the project.
