A children’s arts organisation and publishing house.
That’s Me was created by special needs children from St Cecilia’s School in Sligo about their lives and experiences.
That’s Me is not just a book; it’s a testament to the power of creative expression among children and young people with learning disabilities. This publication seeks to ensure that their voices resound loudly and are genuinely listened to, fostering a more inclusive and empathetic society.
The book follows on from a project with a deep exploration of the surroundings, encouraging students to engage with their environment in novel ways. Activities included taking rubbings of textures found in the schoolyard, collecting natural materials like sticks and stones for painting, and even venturing to the nearby fairy fort for an exhilarating experience. This engagement not only sparked creativity but also helped students step out of their comfort zones.
