Cant Turn Back, is the name of the book created by Traveller and settled young people in Mohill, Co. Leitrim. This programme is a positive and crucial intervention in the protection and preservation of this language and culture.

Dialogue was at the core of this programme. At the start of each workshop the children discussed different aspects of the Traveller and settled culture, exploring customs, traditions, prejudices and values.

This new publication introduces new vocabulary, stories as well as reflections from Mary McDonagh, thoughts and opinions by the young people about the Traveller and settled culture.

Cant Turn Back, is a heartfelt journey into the past and present of Traveller culture, full of humour, unromantic about poverty, yet celebrates the interdependence of settled and nomadic life. The dialogue between Mary McDonagh and the children is a gift to all.
