This teaching and learning resource was developed to support the use of two books created by young people, Grow Up Strong and The Real Us, in the classroom. It is suitable for primary and post-primary levels. The resource was designed by a working group of teachers, STAR project Traveller and Roma Education Workers, alongside Kids’ Own artists and writers, who came together to respond to these books made by young people and to consider how these books could be used in the classroom. The main focus of the resource is to develop cultural and intercultural understanding through a focus on creativity, art, and discussion, and above all, by listening to and responding to children and young people’s voices and experiences.
