Kids’ Own hosted the first of the national consultations for the development of the Arts in Education Portal, in partnership with Sligo Education Centre, last week.

Through a series of activities, we explored and discussed the current needs in terms of online supports for artists and teachers, and mapped out ideas for the potential features and functions of the new portal.

A key consideration arising from the consultations to date is the need to ensure the portal has relevance for both sectors, meeting the distinct needs of both artists and teachers. While these needs are different in many cases, there are also areas of common interest, such as having access to exemplary models of existing practice.
