Young Writers’ Podcast!

We are delighted to announce that our Young Writers’ Group is currently producing a podcast! Five of our young writers from Letterkenny, Derry/Londonderry and Belfast met in Derry City Library on Monday to read their original writing. Their readings will be edited into a series of podcasts, created  by Kids’ Own to showcase the creativity of teenagers.
The podcasts will feature poetry, non-fiction and extracts from short stories written by these young people over the past months and years.
Funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs, this initiative started in 2018, when groups of young people, aged 12 to 16, met in Letterkenny Library and Strathfoyle Library to write and share their stories. Further funding developed the writing group in Derry City Library in 2020, and continued through Covid 19 lockdowns to create “On the Brink” a publication launched in March 2021.
The real voices and experiences of young people are largely absent on our airwaves, social media and in public places. We hope the podcasts will generate interest in the creativity and originality of young people.
