Young Kilkenny animators win international award at Eksperimenta!

We are delighted to announce that ten talented young artists from Kilkenny were given the “Most Promising Young Artists” Award at Eksperimenta! when work from young people across 13 countries was judged during the opening of this international exhibition in Estonia last week.

Stop Motion Animation:
Below is the award-winning animation.

The young artists: Donacha Foley, Aodhagan Murphy, Niall Cooper, Tracy Dalton, Jake Casey, Feibhar Baldwin-Wall, Eanna Brennan, Stephen O’Connor, James McGrath and Joe Carroll, worked with artist Vanessa Daws as part of the Kilkenny Arts Office Artist-in-Residence programme, which took place over six weeks, during which they learned and developed a variety of animation skills.

The Irish selection of work for Eksperimenta! was curated by Kids’ Own and represented the work of 56 young people from Kilkenny, West Cork, Dublin, Roscommon and Belfast. We are delighted with this amazing outcome from this exhibition, which is being shown in the Song Festival Grounds in Tallinn until June as part of its City of Culture 2011 programme.
