Young Artists Celebrate Creativity at Ballina Civic Centre

On 7th February, children from Attymass NS, Co. Mayo took part in a special workshop at Ballina Civic Centre as part of the Cruinniú na nÓg Shared Island Project. The workshop marked a key moment in the project, giving the children the opportunity to see their own artwork—created in collaboration with St. Colman’s PS, Annaclone, Co. Down—on display for the first time. While Annaclone NS did not attend, a video of the workshop will be sent to them so they can see the event and the work they helped to create.

The exhibition, which will be open to the public from 20th–22nd February, will showcase the children’s artwork alongside pieces from the TADA! Exhibition, a wider collection celebrating 25 years of Kids’ Own creative projects. Families are invited to visit during mid-term break to explore and engage with the interactive display.

A Day of Creative Exploration

During the workshop, the children were delighted to see their work displayed and eagerly identified their own contributions. The session was interactive and student-led, with activities including collage-making, stamping, chalkboard drawing, and reading Kids’ Own books. A quiet area with a teepee tent provided space for reflection. When asked to describe the exhibition, the children used words like fun, cool, and creative.

As part of the session, they also created new artwork and recorded messages about their work to share with the children in Annaclone.
