Kids’ Own is partnering with Kilkenny County Childcare Committee and Kilkenny Education Centre this May on ‘Transition,’ a brand new book project supporting young children in the transition to big school. We are working with junior infants in four schools in County Kilkenny.

Artist Orla Kenny and writer Mary Branley are collaborating with the children to creatively explore their experience of transition from preschool and early childhood care and education settings. The children have been gathering their thoughts and advice to pass on to new children starting school and are illustrating their ideas through artwork during the sessions.

Kids’ Own will bring the children’s work together into a new book to be launched this August, which aims to support other children through this very important transition in their lives.
