Watch our Children Who Foster Project’s Creative Stop-Motion Animations!

We are thrilled to give you an update on our Children Who Foster project, where young people came together with Kids’ Own to produce a book about their lived experiences of being part of a family who foster. The children collaborated with our associate artist Karina Nachbar and our associate writer Mary Branley to share their personal experiences of having foster siblings.

Working along with artist Karina, the young people created a series of captivating stop-motion videos which we are delighted to share with you today! Alongside their creative videos, the young participants engaged in conversations with Mary, sharing their stories. These dialogues were centred around the young people’s perspectives, ensuring that they led the conversation.

The words and artwork created by the young people are currently being transformed into a book publication which we are looking forward to sharing with you.

Please do follow along with us on this journey and we’ll be sure to let you know when the book is launched! You can read more about our Children Who Foster project here https://kidsown.ie/children-who-foster-coming-soon/

This project was generously funded by The TUSLA Children’s Participation Seed Fund.

The Kids’ Own team is honored to be a part of this transformative project, and we remain dedicated to providing a platform for the voices of young people to be celebrated and heard. Together, let us continue to nurture creativity and empowerment through the arts. You can help by making a donation to Kids’ Own here: https://www.idonate.ie/cause/kidsown
