Libraries NI to launch The Peace Generation in Derry

Kids’ Own is delighted to be working with Libraries NI towards an exhibition in Derry Central Library of art works made by young people from Derry and Donegal as part of our Peace Generation project, which was funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs Reconciliation Fund in 2012.

The exhibition and limited edition publication will be launched at the library on Wednesday 30th January and will be open for public viewing until the end of February.

This follows the launch of the book at Buncrana Library, Donegal in November. The limited edition hand-printed publication was created by the young people in partnership with Pete Williams (Print Market Project, Cardiff) and writer Mary Branley as part of a cross-border interfaith project, delivered in partnership with Donegal Library Service and Libraries NI, and which explored the theme What do you believe in? The young people interviewed three spiritual practitioners about their faith and created a series of unique woodblock prints and writings in response to the discussions that followed. These are gathered into this very special publication, which will have its launch in Northern Ireland next week.
