The Portal was officially launched by Minister Jan O’Sullivan, Department of Education and Skills, with over 300 people attending on the day. Speakers included Editorial Committee Chair Dr. Katie Sweeney, National Director for the Integration of the Arts in Education (DES); committee members Patrick Coffey, PDST Technology in Education/ Scoilnet and Orla Kenny, Director of Kids’ Own; Professor John Coolahan, Chairman of the Arts in Education Charter’s implementation group; and Minister Jimmy Deenihan, Minister for Diaspora Affairs, who co-signed the Arts in Education Charter in 2012.
Room 13 students from Scoil Bhride Cailini ETNS with artist Orla Kelly led a special immersive event and the Junior Strings Orchestra of Music Generation Louth gave a wonderful performance to kick off proceedings.
