Kids’ Own seeks experienced Project Manager (maternity cover)

Kids’ Own seeks an experienced individual to lead on the delivery of our collaborative projects with children between late November 2021 and mid–June 2022. We are a national children’s arts organisation and publishing house, whose mission is to “create opportunities for children to collaborate with artists, and to publish and promote the artwork and insights that emerge from these encounters.”

The Project Manager will have a base at the office of Kids’ Own Sligo town, but will work both remotely and on-site. Some travel may be required as part of this role. This is a full-time post, based on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

Job Description

The Project Manager will report to the CEO, and will work closely with our small team to support the delivery of our strategic aims. The role is a full-time post, based on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

Salary is pro-rata, based on an annual remuneration of €32,000.


Key Responsibilities

The project manager will be required to:

  • Collaborate with the CEO and Kids’ Own staff to support the delivery of Kids’ Own’s strategic plan.
  • Draw on expertise and knowledge to support planning and decision-making in relation to the delivery of Kids’ Own projects.
  • Liaise closely with, and support, artists and teachers engaged on collaborative projects.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key partners and funders.
  • Organise and deliver key meetings and events that are associated with projects.
  • Act as a spokesperson for Kids’ Own and effectively communicate the organisation’s ethos and vision.
  • Liaise closely with the CEO and other team members to maintain strong lines of communication in relation to projects.
  • Manage project budgets.
  • Issue contracts and partner agreements, and manage paperwork associated with projects.
  • Write and submit funding applications and submit reports to funders and stakeholders.


Essential requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Significant relevant experience in an arts role.
  • Applicants must be able to work from Kids’ Own’s office in Sligo town, as required.
  • Possession of a third level qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • A driving licence and access to own vehicle is desirable, but not essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.


Requisite skills

It is desired that the successful applicant would have:

  • A strong arts or arts-in-education background;
  • Experience or a sound understanding of collaborative or socially engaged practice;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Knowledge of the current policy and funding climate within the arts and/or arts in education sector;
  • Excellent organisational skills;
  • The ability to work well as part of a small team.
