by Kids’ Own
A children’s arts organisation and publishing house.
On Saturday afternoon last (3rd November) we launched our brand new publication, The Peace Generation. This book is unlike any other we have published – a unique limited edition hand-printed book, made by young people from Carndonagh & Strathfoyle, through a creative process with printmaker Pete Williams and writer Mary Branley.
The books were specially bound by Duffy Bookbinders in Dublin, and unveiled at Buncrana Library in Donegal by Kids’ Own Director Orla Kenny. The launch was also attended by Deputy Mayor of County Donegal, Martin Farren, who presented each of the young people with copies of their limited edition prints; Donna Quinn from Donegal County Library Service; and Helen Osborn from Libraries NI.
The book launch – which took place as part of One Donegal Cultural Diversity Month – also coincides with the opening of an exhibition of the young people’s art work at Buncrana Library. The exhibition will run until the end of November.
This project has been supported by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund, through the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by Donegal County Council This project is being delivered as part of Donegal CDB Peace and Reconciliation Partnership’s One Donegal Cultural Diversity Month – Embracing and Celebrating Diversity.
