Today marks a significant milestone in our artist residency program at St Cecilia’s School as we proudly unveil the culmination of months of creative exploration: the release of our video documentary. Developed in collaboration with Kids’ Own, this initiative has empowered students with learning disabilities to express themselves creatively under the guidance of our associate artist Andy Parsons
The video provides an intimate look into the journey of these remarkable students as they delved into various forms of artistic expression, from exploring movement and scale to crafting intricate sculptures. The video truly captures the joy, laughter, and invaluable lessons shared during each session, highlighting the transformative power of creativity.
In addition to showcasing the artistic achievements of the students, the documentary captures the inclusive environment fostered by the program, where students from different classes come together to collaborate and share ideas. Students from the Ursuline College also joined in this collaboration promoting unity and shared creativity among all participants.
As we celebrate the release of this documentary, we invite you to join us in recognising the profound impact of creativity on students with learning disabilities. Through the medium of film, we hope to inspire others to embrace the transformative power of art in education.
This project is made possible thanks to the generous support of The Ireland Funds, Heart of the Community Fund 2023. With thanks to Cian Flynn for the wonderful video.
