Kids’ Own gets ready for the National Lottery Good Causes Awards!

It’s been an exciting couple of months at Kids’ Own in the lead up to the National Lottery Good Causes Awards 2019! Kids’ Own is honoured to have been chosen as one of six finalists in the Arts and Culture Category.

As part of the Good Causes Awards, a team from the National Lottery and Reelscreen Films came to visit the Kids’ Own office in Sligo. They also visited a workshop where the creators of the Kids’ Own book A Strong Heart: A book of stories and dreams for the future by Syrian and Palestinian children living in County Mayo came together with members of their families to celebrate their book again and to make some new hand-made books! You can watch this video here:

Earlier this month, Jo Holmwood, Creative Director of Kids’ Own, and Mary Branley, Kids’ Own Associate Writer, went to Athlone to meet the panel of judges for the Good Causes Awards and to tell the story of Kids’ Own, our ethos, and the work that we do. They also received a special finalists award! Click right or left through the photos in the gallery below.

The National Lottery Good Causes Awards ceremony takes place this Saturday the 2nd of November, in Dublin. We are one of six finalists in the Arts and Culture category, and are in with a chance to win €10,000!

You can see a full list of finalists in the Good Causes Awards here. The Awards are a really wonderful celebration of the work of organisations and community groups all around Ireland, as well as a great way to find out more about what’s happening in communities across the country!
