Kids’ Own Celebrates Shortlisting for Business to Arts Awards!

Kids’ Own is pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted for the Judges’ Special Recognition Award at this year’s Business to Arts Awards. This award recognises our partnership with Ecclesiastical Insurance and the Benefact Group for its significant support in the arts.

The shortlist highlights our successful collaboration, which was made possible by Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good award. This funding supported our Art for Everyone project with St Cecilia’s School in Sligo, a project focused on creating a book that showcases the creative abilities of children and young people with learning disabilities.

We are honoured to be recognised in such company, as the competition for this award is particularly strong. This recognition is for the strength of our partnership with Ecclesiastical Insurance and the Benefact Group and their role in supporting our work. The project itself was a key part of this collaboration, but the award focuses on the partnership between our organisations.

CEO and Creative Director of Kids’ Own, Ciara Gallagher, said: “We are delighted and honoured that our project with St Cecilia’s special education school in Sligo, funded by and in partnership with Ecclesiastical Insurance and the Benefact Group has been selected for the Judges’ Special Recognition Award. This project was a hugely important one for us and marks our commitment to providing excellent arts experiences to all young people, and to ensuring that the creative voices of young people with special educational needs are heard. The resulting book, That’s Me, is a testament to the students and their creative process, where they have shared their voices and communicated just part of who they are. Without the support from Ecclesiastical Insurance and the Benefact Group, this project wouldn’t have been possible, nor would any of the projects that have been developed as a result of this project with St Cecilia’s.”

David Lane, Managing Director at Ecclesiastical Insurance Ireland added, Kids’ Own is a charity which performs outstanding work in its community. This project produced a book that captures what it means to bring people together and Ecclesiastical Insurance is proud to have played a role in this story. The Movement for Good awards were introduced in 2019 and since then over €540,000 has been donated to various charities across the island of Ireland and it is great to see organisations like Kids’ Own benefitting from this initiative. We hope to continue this tradition of community and giving into the future.”

The Awards ceremony will take place on the evening of Monday, 9th September, at the National Concert Hall. We look forward to the event and appreciate your support.
