Maree Hensey has collaborated with Kids’ Own on the ‘I hope you grow’ book project with writer Mary Branley and Focus Ireland, working with children in temporary accommodation, (2018), ‘To be To Wallow To wonder’ project, as part of ‘the lives we live’ Grangegorman Public Art, Community-based projects (2017/18), the Virtually There project, artist in residence (2013-2015), the Lullaby Project Tour (2014) with Early Childhood Care & Education Centres in County Sligo, and Being & Belonging (2013/14), a border counties early years initiative. Maree’s ‘DrawSpace’ formed part of the ‘Practice’ national touring exhibition of work by artists and children in 2014.

Maree Hensey is visual artist based in Clonmore Co. Carlow. Her practice encompasses drawing, sculpture and installation.

Over the past number of years she has completed several Public Art Commissions, Site Specific Installations, Artist in Residence programmes and Community Based Participatory Art projects.

She works in many ways as an object maker, enquirer, researcher, collator, provocateur and mentor. She challenges and questions decisions and works beyond conventional boundaries. As in her own personal working practice she continually expands the premise from which she works and re-assesses her processes and methods.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She was awarded the Carlow County Council, Individual Arts Grants Scheme 2016 and the Artlinks Busary Award 2017 and 2018.
