Maree Hensey

Maree is a visual artist based in Dublin. Her practice encompasses drawing, print, installation and collaboration. She uses materials that are rich in associations and investigates ways to transform them projecting new identities and layers of meaning onto materials in doing so.The work is curatorial in that it assembles, preserves and documents. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Recent exhibitions include:2025 Cairde Visual, Open submission, Hamilton Gallery, Sligo. 2025  ‘Capturing nature’ Drawing Box International group show. Recent awards include 2025/4/3 Fingal County Council Artists Support Scheme. 2023 Arts Council Ireland. Agility Award. 2023 Age & Opportunity’s Arts programme, Professional Development Award.

Maree Hensey has collaborated with Kids’ Own on the ‘Keep up Hope’ with writer Mary Branley created by children who have, or have had, a parent in prison.in collaboration with Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT), (2024). The Arts Council, Arts in Early Learning and Care and School Age Childcare Pilot (2023/25). A project with early years Traveller children and their parents/guardians.(2023) ‘I hope you grow’ book project with writer Mary Branley and Focus Ireland, working with children in temporary accommodation, (2018). ‘To be To Wallow To wonder’ project, as part of ‘the lives we live’ Grangegorman Public Art, Community-based projects (2017/18). The Virtually There project, artist in residence (2013-2015). The Lullaby Project Tour (2014) with Early Childhood Care & Education Centres in County Sligo and Being & Belonging (2013/14), a border counties early years initiative.
