Virtually There Project, 2017
Kiera O'Toole

Since 2016 Kiera O’Toole is an artist in residence for the Virtually There Project and worked with St Celia’s Special School in Sligo. Kiera is an independent visual artist /researcher and educator and her practice interrogates the perceptual and aesthetic experience of drawing both inside and outside the gallery space. Kiera is interested in drawing’s capacity to bring forth the essence of a phenomena while making connections that arise between the aesthetic experience and the surrounding environment and/or society. Her practice is realised through studio and site-specific drawing, digital media, installation, performance and photography.

O’Toole leads the CDP: Coolaney Drawing Project which explores drawing as an intervention within the small rural setting of Coolaney Village, Sligo and also forms part of  DdC: Drawing deCentered which is a national collaboration with five professional Irish artists to explore contemporary drawing practices in Ireland.
