Andrew Livingstone

Andrew Livingstone is an artist, academic and writer. He has a PhD from the University of Ulster, and holds an academic post as Professor (research) at the University of Sunderland where he leads CARCuos the Ceramic Arts Research Centre. His exhibitions include The Smithsonian Institute and the Garth Clark Gallery, New York. His work is held in many private and public collections internationally, including Yingge Ceramics Museum, Taiwan and in the Permanent Collection at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

 

Andrew has published several papers and books including his latest publication, The Ceramics Reader published by Bloomsbury Academic Press in 2017.

Andrew works with various media within his artistic practice with a primary focus on clay, film and digital media. He has worked on many art projects over the last 20 years in Ireland and the UK and has vast experience of working with varied age groups. Andrew has worked with Kids’ Own for over 10 years developing and facilitating creativity with children and young people. He is currently an artist-in-residence in Strandtown Primary School, Belfast as part of the Kids’ Own Virtually There Project – a long-term project that places artists in schools via virtual technology.
