A Year in Our Garden Now Available Online!

Kids’ Own is delighted to share that A Year in Our Garden is now available to read online for free.

Created through a series of creative workshops in partnership with Cranmore Community Co-Op, the book brings together artists, writers, environmentalists, gardeners, and children in a shared exploration of nature, creativity, and the changing seasons.

Since its release, the printed edition has completely sold out. We’re very happy to now make the publication accessible online, allowing more readers, educators, families, and community groups to enjoy and use it.

A Year in Our Garden is filled with reflections, practical activities, recipes, conversations, and creative prompts inspired by the natural world. Across its pages, readers can explore water marbling with artist Ruth Le Gear, flower pressing and garden observation with Naomi Draper, erasure poetry with Sarah Lundy, seed bomb making with Martina Killian, and paper-making with artist Karen Webster. The book also includes insights from Dr Ruth Quinn on rainwater harvesting and sustainable gardening practices.

The publication encourages readers to slow down, observe their surroundings, and connect with nature through creativity and curiosity.

The project was supported through the Creative Climate Action Spark Fund, an initiative of Creative Ireland. In keeping with the environmental themes of the project, the book was printed sustainably using Nautilus recycled paper throughout.

Whether you are a teacher looking for creative outdoor learning ideas, a parent exploring nature-based activities with children, or simply someone interested in art, sustainability, and community projects, A Year in Our Garden offers inspiration for all ages.
