Kids’ Own wins £10,000 Movement for Good award!

Kids’ Own is delighted to announce that we have won a £10,000 Movement for Good award from Ecclesiastical Insurance Group! We are one of 30 charities chosen by a panel of judges to receive £10,000 as part of specialist insurer Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good awards, which is giving £1million to good causes this year.

This grant will enable us to work with St Cecilia’s school in Sligo on a new book project to ensure that children and young people with learning disabilities have a positive means of creative expression. Young people will have the opportunity to work alongside professional artists and to express themselves through a programme of meaningful, artistic engagement. Participants’ artwork and experiences will be developed into a brand-new book publication by Kids’ Own. This book will an important platform for their creative expression,  ensuring that the voices of these young people are heard more widely in our society. This award will help us ensure meaningful creativity is a part of all young people’s lives and is a crucial step for better representation for these young people through their own creative expression!

The awards are designed to help charities make a real difference in their communities. More than 1,000 charities applied for the funding and the winning projects were selected against four criteria: impact and effectiveness, sustainability, innovation, and care and compassion.

The funding will support the project “Arts for Everyone” over the next three years.

Jo Holmwood, our Creative Director said: “We were absolutely thrilled to hear we were one of the winners of the Movement for Good Awards. Winning this £10,000 makes a huge difference to our work locally. We want to ensure that all children and young people have the opportunity to represent themselves and their identities in a creative, positive way.
