Sligo Children’s Book Festival

The Sligo Children’s Book Festival 2014 is taking place from 6-10 March, celebrating family literacy and creativity for parents and children. This festival is a partnership between Kids’ Own, The Hawk’s Well Theatre and The Model, Sligo. Join us for a weekend of bookmaking, storytelling, readings and more…

Festival Launch | Thursday 6th

The festival opens with an exhibition of books created by children at the Kids’ Own Book Press.

We ‘♥’ Books | Friday 7th 

Celebrate World Book Day 2014  with three of Ireland’s favourite children’s authors who will be visiting Sligo as part of the We ‘♥’ Books tour. Join Oisin McGann, Celine Kiernan and Sarah Webb at the Hawk’s Well for a morning of book-themed fun as they celebrate their favourite books.

Book Factory at Sligo Children's Book Festival

Kids’ Own Book Factory | 7-9 March 

Kids’ Own hosts another whirlwind of bookmaking for children and families at The Model. Get inspired and create your very own book with artists Naomi Draper and Vanya Lambrecht Ward. Check out images from last year’s Book Factory to see what’s in store. For times and booking click here.

Sligo Children's Book Festival

Mr. Foley the Radio Operator | 9-10 March 

Theatre Lovett invite you into their world of radio waves, sorrowful partings and hilarious slapstick comedy in Mr. Foley, The Radio Operator at Hawk’s Well.

Rumpelstiltskin | Sunday 9th 

Custard Pie brings their own characteristic portrayal of this Grimm’s fairytale classic to The Model. Adapted and directed by Conor Lambert. Click here for bookings.

The Sligo Children’s Book Festival will also include a reading for schools by Irish language author Coleman O’Raghallaigh at The Model on Friday 7 March and an exhibition of Rosemary Fallon’s dream-like paintings at Hawk’s Well from 1 March – 26 April.
