Updated: 18th March 2010Should children's art work be viewed within an aesthetic criteria framework? What aesthetic value should we or do we place on children's work? Does the aesthetic quality come into play at all when considering the value of children's work? - just some of the questions that we considered at our online Reading Room meeting.
The discussion was underpinned by two documents: "The History of Attitudes Toward Children's Art" by Jo Alice Leeds, and the new position paper (working document) drawn up by Practice.ie entitled: 'Making work with children and the aesthetic criteria.'
More conclusions still to be drawn. For a summary of the discussion, visit our Reading Room blog on Practice.ie.
