Where's the Buzz

Kids' Own have started the first of four weeks working with Teenagers in North Tipperary.

The title we are starting from is where is the Buzz. It has being a buzz for us already, and we are only in our first week! This new programme is celebrating and exploring teen culture.

With the great support of the North Tipperary Arts Office and Arts Officer Melanie Scott. Kids' Own are working with Transition year students and young people in the Library in Nenagh on a tuesday and with Transition Year Students and young people attending Roscrea 2000 on a Wednesday.

The young people were asked to bring in images of themselves. A lot of the images are taken from their Bebo pages. We have started working with these images and have started gathering themes that we need to tease out over the next few weeks.

A new book from Kids' Own

This is the place I like the best, and I'm not just sayin' that! is a collection of stories, poems, jokes and illustrations by children from all over Ireland.
This groundbreaking children’s book, written and illustrated by 320 children from across Ireland, provides a unique glimpse into the lives, aspirations and experiences of Ireland’s children. This book is an enchanting collection of thoughts, comments, poems, jokes and illustrations reflecting Ireland’s new regional, cultural and religious diversity.

This project was a partnership between Kids' Own, Mayo County Library Service, Donegal Library Service, Cork County Library Service and a research partner in The Arts Council Touring Experiment.

The programme took place in October 2007 as part of the Children's Book Festival. The book was launched in each location in March 2008.

You can purchase the book directly from us, or good book shops.

The program was part of the Arts Council Touring Experiment.
