This collaborative project between The Dock, Kids’ Own and artist Vanya Lambrecht Ward explores both Structure and Architecture. This discovery of building, architecture, folding, constructing and deconstructing has endless potential and many surprising outcomes including books, boats, forts, beehives, tunnels and instruments. Throughout the week the young people will explore many different techniques and materials alongside the artist and other invited guests. The workshops are designed with exploration and experimentation at its core and will conclude with a showcase of work by the children and artist.

Day One: The starting point of the workshop will be the building of the Dock and its galleries, exploration of shapes and structures will be the inspiration for the work created.

Day Two, Three and Four: Invited guests (some in the gallery and some online) will discuss other shapes and ways of making structures, inspiring and helping the young people develop their own shapes and objects. These guests will include beekeepers, paper folders, pattern and instrument makers.

Day Five:  The young people will then have a chance to develop both their own and collaborative work.  They will then combine, reconstructed and deconstructed the work. At the end of these sessions the young people and artist will showcase their work and structures.

Places are limited to 12 young people per age group.
Bring a packed lunch.
