Kids' Own delivered a seminar at The Ark to promote best practice in the field of artists working with children. During the seminar, Kids' Own presented and demonstrated findings from the project Trading Places/CR.E.A.T.E.

Project Dates: 2007

Kids’ Own have come up from Beneath The Surface at The Ark, A Cultural Centre for Children in Dublin. Where we showcased work from the Trading Places/ CR.E.A.T.E. project. We started the show with a seminar by the artists and teachers involved in the programme, to other artist's teachers and organisations interested in working together in the classroom.

The seminar was very successful. It was introduced by Derek West, a member of the arts and education committee and chaired by Eina McHugh Director of the Ark. The focus of the seminar was centered on partnership and collaboration between the artist, teachers and child. Themes were discussed in the morning allowing further explorations in the afternoon through hands on workshops.

Throughout the exhibition at the Ark, six artists from the programme worked with schools and public groups, responding to the show, with the aim of developing a new piece of work in the workshop space. It looked great!
