The Kids’ Own Travelling Library was launched yesterday at the Sligo Library. We were joined by children from Scoil Ursula, Donal Tinney, Sligo County Librarian, Eileen Burgess, Donegal County Librarian, Trisha Ward from Libraries NI. We also were joined by librarians from Donegal, Derry, Enniskillen and Sligo for the big event.The first programme is getting underway in Sligo, the workshops start in Sligo Library on the 21st of June.

The focus for this new cross border tour is on children’s rights. we will be working with the children to talk about their rights and creating a new publication with children in Sligo, Derry, Dundoran and Enniskillen that will tour with the Travelling Library. This programme is funded through the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Before the launch Kids’ Own held an event for the librarians who are taking part in the tour. The aim of the event was for everyone to meet together and for Kids’ Own to share their way of working and process of working with children with the Librarians.
